Here’s everything you need to know about a headshot session with me.
How much is it and what do I get?
£190 for 50 mins and 2 edits.
£330 for 90 minutes and 3 edits.
Additional edits are £25 each.
After the shoot, I will send you a gallery link of the shots we’ve taken for you to review in your own time. This usually happens same day, or after any remaining payment has gone through. You’ll then choose your favourites.
It can take up to a week for your chosen images to be edited (but I usually get them done much quicker).
FAQs
What should I bring with me?
You just need yourself, a few changes of top and anything you need to do your hair/make-up.
Where are you based?
I'm based in Hackney Wick.
What should I wear?
It's impossible to answer this question, as no two people are the same (that’s the beauty of portrait photography!). If you bring plenty of options you feel good in, we can try things out and find what works best.
Can I bring jewellery?
Absolutely.
I’m not sure which length of time to book in for…?
50 minutes is more than enough to get an excellent headshot. It isn’t enough time for any major hair or facial hair changes, and we’ll only shoot a couple of tops, but you’ll still get tons of variety, given the way that I shoot.
90 minutes gives us ample time if you want to try more tops, shave, and/or mix up hairstyles. It’s also a great option if you usually find headshots a bit stressful, as the extra time can help take the edge off and alleviate any anxieties. Plus, this option includes one more edited headshot than the 50-minute package.
How many shots will you take?
How long is a piece of string?
We will shoot as many images as we need to (and probably a few more).
How will you find my soul in such a short time?
I have a crystal ball.
No black and white version?
I love black and white. While rarely used for headshots any more, we can discuss black and white edits at an extra cost, if you’d like.
I am not photogenic.
Woah, woah, woah…. stop the music! Firstly, that’s not a question.
Now, it’s serious talk time.
No matter who or whatever you are, you are good enough, right now in this moment… and in every moment. There are a billion versions of you which are infinitely interesting/beautiful/alive, and all of them available, all of the time.
My job is to catch them, so that other people can see.
Do you do discounts?
I offer discounts for returning clients.
Can I have some shots outside?
No. I shoot all headshots indoors so that I can guarantee a consistent aesthetic…. and weather.
...But I want some trees in the background...
I'm not even going there.
I’ve been told my castability is ‘strong but vulnerable fire wizard with a nerdy edge’. How will you capture that?
You’re too much.
…
You bring the wizard, I’ll bring the fire.
Can I charge my phone?
Yes dude.
Are you the same Chris Mann that came 4th in the 2012 season of ‘The Voice’?
… Only one way to find out.
Can I bring my Mum along?
If you’re under 18 yes.
Otherwise, no.
Best friend?
Still no.
Who took your headshots?
My girlfriend.
She’s amazing, can I book with her instead?
Ouch.
I have a huge spot on the end of my nose, should I cancel?
No.
Photoshop exists to help out with little things, like spots, which we all know can pop up at the most inappropriate moments.
Pronouns?
He/Him
How long have you been doing this?
Over 15 years.
Are you the BEST headshot photographer?
Yup.
How do I pay you?
I take a deposit by bank transfer to secure the date, and then the remainder on the day, also by bank transfer.
I don't want to pay for extra shots. Can I just have extras unedited?
No.
Can I edit the shots myself?
No.
Can I have the full copyright for my shots?
No. I always retain copyright.
Have you seen that episode of Friends where Chandler gets headshots?
I live it every day.
What if I don't like the shots that you take?
Throughout the session, we will take some time to review the shots of you together. If you are honest with yourself, and me, during the session about things that are and aren’t working for you, we can't go wrong.
I guarantee a consistent visual aesthetic and high quality images. The client has no right to reject final images on the basis of style, content, composition or editing.
What if my agent doesn't like the shots that you take?
We are working in a subjective industry - not everyone will like my shots.
Many agents big and small recommend me to their clients, and people seek out my work because it is imbued with life and stands out from the norm. If your agent doesn't like my aesthetic, and you are worried about what they will think, it's best to talk to them first. If they can’t align with how you want to be seen, consider a different headshot photographer, or a new agent!
Did I detect a northern accent?
You did.
A lot of this seems geared towards actors, do you shoot non actors?
All the time. I sometimes prefer them :)
How do I know you’re for real?
Here are some reviews:
